This month at your library you will find a variety of programs to cater to diverse interests. On Saturday, February 11 at 3:00 p.m., the South Salem Branch Library will present a storytime and Valentine craft program entitled: “Red is the Color of Love”. All materials will be provided, and no registration is necessary. The Richmond Dale Branch Library will have their Monday storytime at 6:30 on February 13th. At the Main Library Annex on Tuesday, February 14th – Valentine’s Day, there will be a family storytime and Valentine craft from 4-5 p.m. At this event, children can make an edible Valentine and create a card for someone special. The theme of the stories will be love and friendship. All materials will be supplied, but registration is required. Please call 702-4145, or you may register online at crcpl.org.
Anime Club for teens will meet in the Main Library Annex on Monday, February 13th 6:00-7:30 p.m. Weekly storytimes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers are in full swing again at the Main and Northside libraries. Storytimes for babies ages newborn-18 months are on Mondays at the Main Library at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays are Tales for Toddlers storytimes for ages 18 months-3 years at the Main Library, also at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. For the preschool bunch, ages 3-5 years, storytimes are on Wednesdays at 10:15 and 11:15 at the Main Library, and on Thursdays at the Northside Library at 1:30 p.m. Also available is the family music storytime on Wednesday evenings at Northside at 6:30 p.m. There is no need for registration for any of these storytimes. Just come on in and enjoy!
Our friends at the Ohio University Chillicothe Library will be having a unique Valentine’s Day – themed event, entitled “The Romance Factor”. The program will be held on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, in the OUC Quinn Library from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Attendees will listen to the hottest new romance writers and will vote for their favorite. This event is open to the public, and is free of charge. All who attend will be entered to win Book World gift certificates.
Just as a reminder, all library locations will be closed on Monday, February 20th, in honor of Presidents’ Day.
Mardi Gras time is fast approaching, and the Northside Library and Youth Services will be celebrating with a Mardi Gras storytime and craft. The program will take place in the Northside meeting room from 4:00–5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21st. Please register at crcpl.org, or call 702-4100.
Our Black History Month program will be held on Thursday, February 23rd in the Main Library Annex at 7:00 p.m. The Reverend Doctor Olie Burton (president of NCAA of Chillicothe) will be the keynote speaker on the topic, “Living on the Wrong Side of the Tracks”. There will also be music by the Brotherhood Chorus, a choir comprised of men from local African-American churches.
Finally, here’s an early note about a program to be held at the Northside Branch Library. There will be a hands-on training for e-readers like Kindle, Nook, etc. The training will be held on Friday, February 24th, and will be split into two “sessions”. Training for Kindles will be from 2:00-3:30 p.m., and training for Nooks and other ebook readers will be from 3:30–5:00 p.m. Please register online at crcpl.org, or by calling 702-4100.
