Howard S. Young (Frankfort) Branch Renovation

We are able to confirm that The Howard S. Young (Frankfort) Branch will close to the public beginning Monday, December 12 for packing and moving. The renovation work on the branch, funded by a combination of a USDA loan and money bequeathed to the library by Howard S.Young, is expected to begin early in January.  Mr. Young, the former high school principal of Adena Schools, designated his residence to become the branch library. Still very residential in nature twenty-five years later, the house will be transformed into a more user-friendly public building, while preserving the exterior look.

The very last day that the Frankfort branch will be open to the public is Friday, December 9, but don’t worry if you still have materials borrowed from that branch. You may return them to any library branch in the Chillicothe and Ross County system. We suggest that the Northside Branch would be the easiest, since it has a drive-through window where materials can be returned at any time, and is located just off the Chillicothe High Street exit from Route 35, at 550 Buckeye Street. If you have materials still on request at the time Frankfort closes, your materials will be delivered to Northside and you will be called from there to pick them up. We are recommending that our library users in the Frankfort area use other library branches such as Northside if you make regular trips into Chillicothe for other reasons, during the six or seven months that Frankfort is expected to be under construction.
